Cherry Blossoms in Hiroshima, Late March 2013

It’s almost a month and a half later, but the sakura must go on!

There are cherry blossoms blooming all along the river by the Peace Park (where the famous dome remaining after the bomb was dropped still remains), and people come out in droves to picnic under the trees and enjoy the weather.

We headed off to Hiroshima Castle (first picture), which is really easy to get to (like all the popular places in Hiroshima) by street car. If you go to the top of the castle, you can look down over the castle grounds and see people picnicking from there, too.
